Audition Advice
Part of the audition process is just knowing what to expect, and what to do.
Here are some basic tips to remember.
- You are auditioning for a part as soon as you enter a room. How you
behave when it is not your turn says just as much as your actual audition.
Be polite, pay attention, and respect others in the room with you.
- Be punctual (this means arrive at least a little bit early). Allow for
transportation difficulties, getting lost, etc.
- Bring your schedule with you. Know if you will have conflicts with the
production schedule. You can not miss the last week of rehearsal (or any
of the shows) if you expect to be in the show.
- Listen to the auditioning team. You want to show that you can take
direction.
- Don't be afraid. The audition team wants to see what you can do, so
don't hold back in fear of making a mistake.
- Don't make excuses. If you mess up a line in your monologue, keep going.
If you have a cold, ignore it.
- Enjoy yourself! We want you to have a positive experience, and you look
much better when you're having fun with what you're doing.
